Keegan appeals controversial red card

Mayo’s Lee Keegan has appealed the red card he received in the first half of last Sunday’s All-Ireland SFC semi-final draw with Kerry.

The defender received a straight red card just before half-time for this kick out at Kerry’s Johnny Buckley.

The red card has been the subject of ferocious debate since, including on The Sunday Game afterwards.

The two sides are due to replay the match in Limerick this Saturday evening and as it stands the Westport club man is ineligible for selection. If the red card is overturned he would be free to play.

The appeal will be heard on Thursday night and Mayo manager James Horan has delayed the announcement of their team until Friday morning at the earliest.
