Kilkenny's Richie Hogan picked up a fully deserved GAA Man of the Match award, following a stunning display in yesterday's drawn All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final against Tipperary.
The Danesfort clubman, bagged six points from play, including five in the second half in his quest for a sixth All-Ireland Senior Hurling medal.
He was the only Cat on the shortlist of three for the accolade, joined by Tipperary duo John O'Dwyer and Cathal Barrett.
The 26-year old was presented with the award by GAA President Liam O'Neill after the game.
Hogan was delighted to be a part of such an epic battle, with history created as the Hurling decider finished level for the third time in succession.
"It was such an amazing game" , Hogan said.
"It was energy sapping, it really ebbed and flowed the whole way through. Tipperary were on top and Kilkenny were on top at times as well.
"Maybe a draw was the best result. I suppose there is 80,000 people going home happy today."
With the Cats scoring three goals, including two from Richie Power and another from TJ Reid, along with keeper Eoin Murphy stopping two penalties, one would have thought the Liam MacCarthy Cup would be heading to the Banks of the Nore.
However, Hogan says it wasn't going to be that clear-cut.
"You would have thought that alright. Tipperary got two or three more goal chances as well. I remember Lar Corbett's one.
"Eoin made some great saves and we had a couple of chances ourselves with TJ and Eoin Larkin that were just barely out as well.
"It made great viewing for supporters, but it was just energy sapping and just a fantastic game to play in."
