Stefani tops best dressed list
Singer Gwen Stefani has knocked Kate Moss off the top of the best dressed list.
The flamboyant star has been crowned top fashion icon by style bible Harpers & Queen. Moss is relegated to third – her only consolation is that she is ranked one place above arch rival Sienna Miller.
No Doubt singer Stefani, aged 35, is famed for her bold fashion choices, always set off by platinum hair and ruby red lipstick.
She is muse to designer John Galliano and is also a fan of Vivienne Westwood. The US singer lives in London with her husband Gavin Rossdale.
Recently she played screen icon Jean Harlow in The Aviator, the Martin Scorsese biopic about Howard Hughes.
“One of the main themes that emerged from this year’s list is a nostalgia for the days when women really revelled in the art of dresing up and having fun,” a Harpers & Queen spokeswoman said.
“Gwen Stefani embodies this spirit perfectly because she manages to look polished and glamorous without compromising her professionalism or her carefree spirit.”
Second in the list is stripper Dita Von Teese, partner of shock rocker Marilyn Manson.
Last year’s number one Kate Moss drops to third but Sienna Miller is up three places to number four after her trademark boho chic was copied in every High Street in Britain – even inspiring the latest collection from Marks & Spencer.
Russian model-of-the-moment Natalia Vodianova is fifth – she has starred in campaigns for Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton and Gucci.
Actress Cate Blanchett is sixth, thanks to her faultless fashion record on the red carpet.
Next is model Jacquetta Wheeler, followed by the impeccably well-connected Jasmine and Daphne Guinness.
Last in the top 10 is White Teeth author Zadie Smith.
The full list of the 100 best dressed women will be published in the May issue of the magazine, published on April 11.
