The trailer for the long-anticipated second Lord Of The Rings chapter, The Two Towers, will premiere on America Online next Monday.
Fans will be able download images for the central film in the adaptation of JRR Tolkien's fantasy trilogy.
A day later, the trailer will appear on the film’s official website (www.lordoftherings.net).
The Two Towers follows Frodo and Sam (Elijah Wood and Sean Astin) towards Mordor in their quest to destroy the One Ring as they are pursued by its former owner Gollum (voiced by Andy Serkis).
Meanwhile, the fellowship of Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas (Viggo Mortensen, John Rhys-Davies and Orlando Bloom) face the threat of evil wizard Saruman (Christopher Lee) and his army of Uruk-Hai orc warriors.
The film, which opens on December 18, introduces more characters such as King Theoden (Bernard Hill), his sinister counsellor Wormtongue (Brad Dourif) and Boromir’s brother Faramir (David Wenham).
When the trailer for last year’s blockbuster went online in April 2000, it was downloaded a record 1.7 million times in the first day.
The Fellowship Of The Ring, which has grossed $860m (€880m) worldwide, was nominated for 13 Academy Awards, winning four.
The final film, The Return Of the King, is scheduled to come out in December 2003.
Principal shooting on all three chapters was carried out in New Zealand over 15 months, with extra filming done this summer.
