Sky axe Walliams show after first series

David Walliams' panel show has been axed after just one series.

Sky1 bosses felt the comedian's programme 'Wall Of Fame' - which featured the 'Britain's Got Talent' judge and teams of celebrity guests giving their take on the week's news - wasn't outrageous enough and didn't have the profile of their flagship quiz, the James Corden-fronted 'A League of Their Own'.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "It just didn't cut through as well as executives had hoped. Ratings were disappointing.

"David is well known for being outrageous but it was thought 'Wall of Fame' just wasn't out there enough.

"It also didn't have the hype of 'A League Of Their Own'."

David - whose wife Lara Stone is pregnant with their first child - may not be too disappointed by the axing, because as well as his work as a 'Britain's Got Talent' judge, it was recently claimed he was being targeted to be the new face of Saturday nights on BBC One.

A source said: "David is someone we're very interested in for Saturday nights.

"He has the kind of warmth that will connect well with BBC One audiences. It's early days but we're hopeful of sorting something."
