Man almost falls to Death at Derren Brown show

A man plunged 15ft over a balcony during a Derren Brown show.

The illusionist's 'Infamous' gig received an unexpected shock on Saturday when a man was left dangling from a lighting rig 45ft in the air at The Palace Theatre in London's West End, after he was pushed by his wife as a joke.

However, the gentleman escaped with minor injuries despite smacking his head on a light as he plummeted into the stalls.

Derren took to Twitter later on that night to share the shocking stunt with his fans.

He wrote: "Tonight a woman pushed her hubby as a joke from the front of the balcony. He fell and caught the upper circle on the way down, and was hanging from it. He's fine, but what a finale. Sending best thoughts to him & wife, terrifying (sic)."

The 42-year-old star - who was building up to the final moments of the show - performed while shocked onlookers feared they had witnessed a fatality as desperate calls were made for medical help.

Theatregoer Rob Millwood told The Sun newspaper: "He hit the lights and grabbed the bar with one arm. Three or four guys ran down the steps and pulled him back.

"A few inches to one side and there would have been nothing to break the fall."

The Palace has one of London's highest theatre balconies and guests are reportedly warned not to buy tickets if they have a fear of heights.
