Katy - new album will be 'more personal'

Katy Perry will be "honest" about her life on her new album.

The 'I Kissed A Girl' hitmaker has revealed that she did some soul-searching prior to recording the follow-up to her smash hit third studio album, 'Teenage Dream', and has hinted it will be a more personal record.

In an interview on 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno', she said: "I've had a lot of time to reflect over some of the time I took off in the past year. I think that it'll continue to be what I always do, which is connecting to my core and trying to bring an honest message that people can relate to, because I think honesty is what everyone is looking for."

Katy will have plenty of inspiration for truthful songs on her new record following her divorce from comedian Russell Brand, and her new romance with fellow musician John Mayer.

However, the 28-year-old pop beauty played coy when pressed about a release date for the highly anticipated LP.

She said: "I'm still working on it. I guess I would just say that it's [coming] soon."

Katy's album will follow the multi-platinum selling 'Teenage Dream', which spawned five number one singles in the US - 'California Gurls', 'Teenage Dream', 'Firework', 'E.T.' and 'Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)'.

Additionally, the 2012 reissue of the album - 'Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection' - led to another number one with 'Part of Me'.
