A campaign against domestic refuse charges received the support of the Dublin Council of Trade Unions (DCTU) at a meeting in Dublin last night.

Calling on all trade unionists, local community groups and members of the general public to support the campaign, DCTU Executive Officer, Eric Fleming said:

"Domestic refuse charges are an inequitable form of taxation as they take no account of ability of pay. Any campaign, therefore, must address the wider question of the provision of proper funding of local Government services as well as the wider issue of corporate waste disposal."

A rally will be held on Saturday October 15, in Dublin's Parnell Square at midday.
