Special Olympics delegates from Hong Kong have welcomed the decision by the Irish Government to overturn its previous decision to exclude them from the games here next month.

The team had been banned from the games amid fears of spreading the SARS virus.

Hong Kong officials presented a proposal to the Department of Health in Dublin yesterday and it was decided that delegates will be allowed to participate if they agree to comply with the criteria laid down by the Irish expert group on SARS.

Those criteria involve being held in quarantine for ten days in a non-affected region before travelling to Ireland.
