Win-hungry Wolves unchanged for Reds' visit

Wolves kept the side which inflicted the shock defeat on Manchester United for their home clash with Liverpool tonight, with the stakes high for both clubs.

Wolves are unbeaten in 10 league games at Molineux and gamely fighting for their Premiership lives, while fragile Liverpool are facing virtually must-win matches right to the end of the campaign if they are to snatch Champions League qualification.

Reds boss Gerard Houllier was able to recall Steven Gerrard, Steve Finnan, Jerzy Dudek and Jamie Carragher after injury, but persisted with Igor Biscan and Bruno Cheyrou – despite their poor performances in the 2-1 defeat at Tottenham.

For Wolves, the interest was as much off the field beforehand, with Newcastle striker Carl Cort at the match following talks over a move to Molineux.

Liverpool were also looking to continue the loan of Paul Jones until the end of the season, despite Dudek’s recall.
