Increase in drop out rate in Universities

A new report out this morning has revealed a disturbing drop out rate in Irish Universities particularily in high tech courses.

A new report out this morning has revealed a disturbing drop out rate in Irish Universities particularily in high tech courses.

The report by the higher education authority, shows that Maynooth College in Co Kildare has the highest rate, an alarming 28%.

The H.E.A. report found that the highest drop out rate was in high tech areas such as computers and science.

In a breakdown of a number of colleges, N.U.I. Maynooth has the highest drop out rate, at 28% with just over 21% dropping out at Dublin City Universtity and 20.5% at the University of Limerick.

Accross the country's seven universities the report found that the highest drop out rate was in the computer studies, with over a quarter of those who enter the field failing to complete the course.
