The Labour Party leader is accusing the Government of sleepwalking the country into recession.

Pat Rabbitte says current economic policies are not dealing with the emerging economic crisis.

Speaking to Labour Party members in Cork this evening he pointed to this week's job losses at Mircrosoft in Dublin and Square D in Ballinasloe in Galway to underline the extent to which the economy is in difficulty.

Deputy Rabbitte said the budget did nothing to stimulate job creation and the estimates left development agencies with much reduced budgets for this year.

He also warned that current economic policies are not dealing with the emerging crisis.
