Fire brigade union representatives will hold talks with Northern Ireland Office ministers today ahead of next week's planned industrial action.

Fire brigade union representatives will hold talks with Northern Ireland Office ministers today ahead of next week's planned industrial action.

Union leaders will meet Northern Ireland minister Des Browne at Stormont today to discuss concerns over a series of planned walkouts starting on October 29.

Strikes will last from two to eight days at a time, and are planned to take place over 36 days.

The firemen are demanding a pay rise of 40% to increase their salaries to £30,000 (€47,600).
