Former Labour Court chief: Country must 'pull together'

The former Chairman of the Labour Court Finbar Flood has said there is an obligation on us all to "work together and pull together" during these difficult times.

The country will be hit by an escalation in industrial action in the coming weeks, as unions up the ante in their campaign against public sector pay cuts.

SIPTU yesterday announced a two-day strike at seven hospitals in Dublin while other unions are expected to announce their plans in the coming days.

But Mr Flood is hopeful this action can be avoided and a solution can be found.
