Lee Bowyer was due to discuss personal terms with Liverpool officials today regarding his £9m (€14m) move from Leeds.
The two clubs agreed a fee last week and now it is down to Bowyer to agree his new Anfield contract and undergo a medical.
If all goes well the 25-year-old midfielder, who joined Leeds from Charlton in a £2.6m (€4.1m) deal six years ago, will be unveiled at an Anfield press conference later this week.
Bowyer could then make his Reds debut on Friday in the club’s opening pre-season match against Le Havre.
Leeds reluctantly decided to cash in on the controversial player after he rejected their offer of a new contract earlier this summer.
The initial fee is believed to be £7m (€10.9m), rising to £9m (€14m) depending on appearances and England caps.
