Gardaí in Limerick have revealed that they have questioned 10 people in the last week in connection with the murder of Gareth Grant in the city last year.

The 25-year-old was shot dead near his home in St Mary's Park on October 8.

Gardaí confirmed today that two men and two women were arrested in connection with the shooting last week, while another four men and two women were detained on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.

All the arrests were made on the northside of Limerick.

Nine of those detained were later released without charge, while the tenth, a 17-year-old youth, was brought before Limerick District Court this week charged in connection with an unrelated shooting.

A total of 14 people have now been questioned about the murder of Mr Grant.

Nobody has been charged in connection with the killing, but the gardaí say they had made substantial progress in what they describe as "a long and protracted investigation".
