Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore is traveling to Berlin today to meet with the German Foreign Minister.
Foreign Affairs Minister Gilmore and Guido Westerwelle will discuss the controversy surrounding Ireland's desire to be declared a "special case" on bank debt.
The meeting comes after ambiguous remarks from Chancellor Angela Merkel in recent days, which seemed to rule out the use of EU money to fund an Irish bank debt deal.
Her administration later issued a statement clarifying Germany's commitment to working with Ireland on improving the terms of our bailout deal.
