Ulrika's mum anger at 'tart portrayal'

Ulrika Jonsson's mother has issued a stern defence of the TV presenter, claiming her daughter has been "portrayed as a tart."

Gun Brodie, 55, has given an interview in the wake of Jonsson's announcement that her love match with Sven Goran Eriksson was over.

Meanwhile, Eriksson has made a public show of his relationship with girlfriend Nancy Dell'Olio.

He has taken her to a Premiership match in front of more than 38,000 people.

Ms Brodie said: "All these boyfriends are listed who have not even been her boyfriends. She's 35-years-old. Apart from working hard and being a single mum ... you have to have some fun."

Speaking to Tonight with Trevor McDonald, in a programme to be screened on ITV1, Mrs Brodie added: "She's been working so hard. It's been so hard for her."

The couple have been at the centre of intense media interest since last week because of Eriksson's relationship with Jonsson.

Eriksson, who is preparing for England's World Cup campaign in Japan and South Korea this summer, left his €2.6 million home near Regent's Park, central London, with Miss Dell'Olio for the game at Arsenal's Highbury ground.
