The Stakeknife affair is to be raised with the British government.

Taoiseach Bertie Ahern says the revelation that an alleged member of the IRA acted as a British agent is a matter of concern to the Irish Government.

Meanwhile, Sinn Fein's Gerry Kelly says Stakeknife's family has been in touch with the party and have been advised by them to contact a solicitor about the claims being made against him.

Mr Kelly said Stakeknife's family say he's still in Belfast and is not in protective custody.

Sinn Fein have advised him to make a public statement through his solicitor to deny the allegations if they are unfounded.
