A new report has said the average Irish worker will have to increase their annual savings by more than €9,000 between now and retirement to protect their pension.

The research from Aviva has found more than 6 in 10 people are worried they won't have enough money when they retire, but only 3 in 10 can guess how much they actually need.

Experts say employees need 70% of their pre-retirement income to have an adequate standard of living when they leave work on their pension.
