Marie Farrell denies saying she would get 'cut' from Bailey case

Marie Farrell has denied saying that she would get "a cut" from the millions Ian Bailey was in line to make from his court case.

The Schull shopkeeper has been giving evidence at the former journalist's action for damages over his alleged wrongful arrest over the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier.

After seven days - Marie Farrell's cross examination is now at an end.

Earlier she was asked about a phone call she made to a Geraldine O'Brien who had worked in her shop in Schull while a teenager in the 1990s.

This woman was in the shop when Ian Bailey called around in 1997.

The mother-of-five agreed she had phoned Geraldine O'Brien late last year or early this year to ask on behalf of her daughter about a beauty school she is running.

She said she did not discuss Ian Bailey.

Barrister for the state Paul O'Higgins put it to her that Ms O'Brien will say she did mention the former journalist - that he was in line to get millions from his court case and that she too would be getting a cut – allegations denied by Marie Farrell.
