Four people have died during overnight road accidents on both sides of the border.

Two men, believed to be in their 40s, were killed in collision involving two cars and a bus on the Belfast-Larne road in Co Antrim at around 5.30pm yesterday evening.

Both victims were travelling in one of the cars involved in the crash.

The driver of the second car and several bus passengers were also injured, none of them seriously.

In Co Down, meanwhile, another man died and a second was seriously injured when their car collided with a wall near Kilkeel.

Elsewhere, a motorcyclist in his 30s died in a crash at a roundabout on Grangecastle Road in the Clondalkin area of Dublin at around 6.30pm.

Another man is also fighting for his life after a collision between a van and a tractor near Newport in Co Mayo at around 6.15pm.
