500 evacuated after bomb scare at Dublin hotel

Almost 500 people were evacuated from a Dublin hotel last night following the discovery of a suspicious device.

Almost 500 people were evacuated from a Dublin hotel last night following the discovery of a suspicious device.

The package was spotted at the front entrance to Bewley's Hotel at Newland's Cross by a staff member at 11.45pm.

Gardaí called in the Army Bomb Disposal Team, which carried out a controlled explosion.

The remnants of the device are now being examined to determine if it contained explosives.

Nobody was injured in the incident.
