Teenager stabbed in road rage brawl involving five men

A teenager has been stabbed and two other men hurt in a road rage attack at a busy junction in England.

The 19-year-old had to be airlifted from the scene after a fight involving five men broke out in the Balsall Heath area of Birmingham at about 5.15pm yesterday.

Two men, aged 23 and 29, were arrested on suspicion of wounding near the scene, where Moseley Road meets Highgate Road.

The stabbing victim is in a serious but stable condition in hospital, while two other men suffered minor injuries, according to West Midlands Police.

Officers think the three casualties were in a grey or green Volvo, while the arrested pair were travelling in a blue Ford Fiesta.

The dispute is believed to have been triggered when the Volvo pulled out on the Fiesta.

Police said the cars then drew up next to each other, with fighting breaking out in the middle of the busy junction.

Several members of the public tried to stop the fracas as it unfolded in broad daylight.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time or who saw what happened and has not yet spoken to officers to come forward.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Elaine Dodd said: “We know a number of people tried to stop the fighting and keep the peace and we would ask anyone who has not yet spoken to us to get in touch.

“There was also a number 50 bus just behind the cars involved and passengers on board may have seen what happened.”

Anyone with information can call the police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
