PSV Eindhoven’s Holland midfielder Mark van Bommel has confirmed he could join Tottenham this summer.

Van Bommel revealed yesterday he was being chased by three clubs, saying he had “no preference” which he joined.

He has today named Tottenham as one of those clubs, with German duo Schalke 04 and Borussia Dortmund believed to be the others, and expressed a desire to play in the Barclaycard Premiership.

He told the Daily Star: “Tottenham is a big club and a sleeping giant. We are going to hold talks in a few weeks and see what happens.

“I know how good the Premier League is and it would be very nice to play there because the level of football is so high.

“I know there have been rumours about me going to Germany, but Tottenham fans can sleep easily at night – I want to play in the Premiership.”
