Controlled explosion on car in Co Antrim

A controlled explosion has been carried out on a car in Newtonards, Co Antrim by the British Army, following a telephone warning last night.

A controlled explosion has been carried out on a car in Newtonards, Co Antrim by the British Army, following a telephone warning last night.

Army technical experts have examined the scene at Castle St in the town, however nothing suspicious has been found.

Meanwhile in Derry a controlled explosion was carried out last night on a suspect device that was left at the junction of Mountjoy St and Upper Bennett St in the city. The PSNI have declared the device as "an elaborate hoax".
