The first Vodka-Drinking World Championship is to be held in a Russian restaurant in Dublin.

The championship has been organised by and will be held in the first Russian Restaurant in Dublin "Tzar Ivan" and the finals will take place on January 17-19.

"I cannot imagine a more appropriate place for such a competition than the Russian Restaurant in Ireland," said Ruslan G Fedorovsky, director of AudioBooksForFree.com - sponsors of the championship.

"Both nations are rather famous in this field."

The company also hopes that one of its directors - Andrei Koltakov - will win a place in the Russian national team.

Organiser and promoter of the championship Mr Sergey Tarutin guarantees that all stages of competition will be subject to strict medical and doping control.

"We are even bringing over two officers of the Moscow traffic-police to be part of the jury," commented Mr Tarutin.

"Besides a substantial cash-prize, the overall winner will also receive a very special prize: an individual mobile vodka distilling refinery," continued Mr Tarutin.

"Of course the Russian team are the favourites but the Fins, Canadians and Irish could produce some surprises."

Tzar Ivan Holdings is setting up a network of Russian bistro-restaurants in Ireland.

The first Russian restaurant in Dublin "Tzar Ivan" was opened one year ago.
