More than 130,000 people living in Ireland are members of the social networking site www.facebook.com, it was revealed today.

More than 130,000 people living in Ireland are members of the social networking site www.facebook.com, it was revealed today.

Around 117,000 of those are aged between 18 and 35.

The new research has revealed that Bebo is still the favourite social network for Irish residents, with between 800,000 and one million members here.

Facebook has experienced the largest rate of growth in Irish-based members this year of all the major social networking sites however.
