Mayo is getting a major jobs boost today with the announcement that 180 jobs are to be created in Claremorris.

Mayo is getting a major jobs boost today with the announcement that 180 jobs are to be created in Claremorris.

The Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise Mary Coughlan made the announcement this afternoon.

A new company BioSpark is to develop a €40m plant to research and manufacture bio-energy related products from ethanol to wood pellets.

It will be built over the next two years supporting 120 jobs during construction.

The venture plans to employ 180 people when up and running and the promoters say it has the potential for 120 more within a further three years.
