The ISEQ index of Irish shares was down 1.11 points at 5363.42 before 11am, on a generally poor morning for the financials.
Irish Life & Permanent dropped 19c to €12.54, Bank of Ireland lost 16c to stand at €10.77 at 10.30am, while AIB also fell, 8c, to €12.47.
Meanwhile, Anglo performed well, up 11c to €12.89.
Food company Greencore dropped 7c to €3.09, on the morning that David Simons’ appointment to the board was announced.
Ryanair this morning announced record passenger figures for June. The company’s share price had fallen 1c to €4.55 at 10.30am.
The biggest mover on the index this morning was pharmaceutical company Elan, which posted an increase of 46%, or 2.5% of its share price, to €18.75.
