Belgian man charged in connection with €1.5m drugs haul

A man has been charged with importing controlled drugs, in connection with the seizure of €1.5m worth of heroin found at Rosslare Port in Co Wexford.

A man has been charged with importing controlled drugs, in connection with the seizure of €1.5m worth of heroin found at Rosslare Port in Co Wexford.

Harm Kort (aged 63) from Hanikan in Belgium appeared at a special court sitting of Gorey District Court this morning, and has been remanded in custody to Cloverhill Prison.

It is the third major seizure in the country in recent days, which totalled more than €5m.

In the second seizure, two men were arrested after 60 kilos of herbal cannabis - worth €1.2m - was found hidden in a shipment of tiles, also at Rosslare port.

In Meath, two men are being held after 120 kilos of cannabis herb - worth €2.4m - was found at a house in Oldcastle in Co Meath.
