Gardaí appeal for witnesses to fatal traffic incident

The Garda Ombudsman Commission is appealing for witnesses to a fatal road traffic incident in which a 77-year-old woman died after being struck by a car driven by an off-duty garda.

The Garda Ombudsman Commission is appealing for witnesses to a fatal road traffic incident in which a 77-year-old woman died after being struck by a car driven by an off-duty garda.

The incident occurred at about 2pm on Friday September 21, on the Dublin-bound carriageway of the Navan Road near the Ashtown roundabout.

A dark coloured Volkswagen Golf was involved in the incident.

The Garda Ombudsman Commission is appealing to anyone who was travelling on the Navan Road around 2pm that afternoon and who witnessed the incident, or anyone who may have information that may be of assistance to the investigation, to contact it on 01-871 6664.
