Stardust lessons to be discussed by chief fire officers
The Chief Fire Officers Association has said some of the key recommendations of the Stardust inquiry have still not been implemented.
Lessons learned from the St Valentine's Day tragedy in 1981 are being discussed at the association's annual conference in Carrick-on-Suir today.
The conference is due to be addressed by former Chief Justice Ronan Keane, who chaired the inquiry into the fire that claimed 48 lives at the Stardust nightclub in Dublin.
The chief fire officers want a regulatory body established to control all fire departments across the country in an effort to ensure that such loss of life can be avoided in future.
