A 24-year-old Nigerian woman questioned by gardaí over the death of a mother of two from Malawi has been released without charge, it emerged today.

A 24-year-old Nigerian woman questioned by gardaí over the death of a mother of two from Malawi has been released without charge, it emerged today.

Detectives arrested the woman in Waterford on Tuesday morning. She was released late last night following hours of questioning.

Paiche Onyemaechi’s badly beaten and decapitated body was found wrapped in a black plastic bag near a stream outside the village of Piltown, County Kilkenny, on July 23.

The 25-year-old was the daughter of Malawian Chief Justice Leonard Unyolo.

No one has been charged with her murder.
