Brooke Shields proves she’ll be looking fabulous at 40 as she takes the lead role in the West End musical Chicago.

The actress and former model will play femme fatale Roxie Hart in the hit show.

And she will celebrate her 40th birthday during the nine week run.

The leggy former Calvin Klein girl posed with a smoking gun in this sultry picture.

Chicago will be her British stage debut and a show spokesman said: “She’s going to bring some great pizzazz, sex appeal and excitement to the part of Roxie. Brooke has an amazing star quality – and she looks absolutely fantastic.”

Shields follows the likes of Denise Van Outen, Jennifer Ellison and Jill Halfpenny, who have all played the role.

She will appear at the Adelphi Theatre from April 26.

Chicago producers are said to have snapped her up after seeing her in the Broadway musical Wonderful Town last year.

Shields was a child star and her movie career got off to a controversial start when she played a prostitute’s daughter in Louise Malle’s Pretty Baby.

In 1980 she appeared semi-naked in The Blue Lagoon, the story of two children who begin a relationship after they are marooned on a desert island.

That same year, aged 15, she appeared in an advert for Calvin Klein jeans and uttered the famous line: “Nothing comes between me and my Calvins.”

From the early 1980s onwards her career floundered until she landed her own sitcom, Suddenly Susan, in 1996.

Shields wed tennis star Andre Agassi in 1997 but the marriage landed just two years.

In 2001 she married TV writer Chris Henchy and the couple have a two-year-old daughter, Rowan.
