The Road Safety Authority is urging motorists to take extra care on the roads with high winds predicted overnight.

Met Éireann says winds are expected to reach speeds of 55kph to 70kph tonight with gusts ranging between to 100kph to 120kph over Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal in particular.

Strong to gale force winds are likely to remain strong across the country tomorrow also.
