Former IRA members arrested in Spain

Two former members of the IRA have been arrested in Spain during a smuggling raid.

The AFP reports that the pair, named Leonard Hardy (53) and Donna Maria Elizabeth Hardy (48), were arrested in Lanzarote on December 29 as part of an anti-smuggling sweep.

Both had previously been convicted on a 1989 bombing of a British army barracks located in Osnabruck, Germany.

It is alleged that the smuggling operation involved tobacco and alcohol, and a money laundering operation involving real estate purchases.
