A bomb exploded in the centre of Bangkok today, wounding one person, Thai police said.

The bomb was planted in a side street of the bustling Thai capital, police spokesman Ronnarong Yangyaen said.

One person was hurt in the blast, he said.

Thailand’s capital was rocked by a series of nine explosions on New Year’s Eve which killed three people and wounded more than 40.

Authorities still have not solved the blasts which stunned Bangkok as it had never experienced an organised terrorist attack directed at the public.

Army Commander General Sonthi Boonyaratglin said today the Thai government would work with British authorities to verify recent reports of a terrorist threat in the capital.
