Martin 'gravely concerned' about Georgia clashes

Foreign Affairs Minister Micheál Martin says he is gravely concerned about the outbreak of violence between Georgia and Russia.

Foreign Affairs Minister Micheál Martin says he is gravely concerned about the outbreak of violence between Georgia and Russia.

Mr Martin is calling on all parties to immediately accept Georgia's offer of a ceasefire.

The European Commission, meanwhile, has also called for an immediate end to the violence.

It is pledging €1m in emergency humanitarian aid for the thousands of civilians affected.
