Garryowen 6 Cork Constitution 6
Cork Constitution still lead the way in AIB League Division 1A despite drawing 6-6 with a resurgent Garryowen side at Dooradoyle this afternoon.
Cork Con's five-match winning run in the league came to an end, but a 59th minute penalty from Munster's Scott Deasy was enough to secure a draw for the high-flying visitors.
This was a dress rehearsal from next weekend's AIB Cup final and a cagey affair ensued, giving neither coach - Garryowen's Paul Cunningham and Cork Con boss Brian Walsh - much insight into the opposition.
In heavy fog, try-scoring chances were few and far between and the sides could only muster two penalties apiece.
With their forwards edging the battle up front, Garryowen deservedly led 6-3 at half-time thanks to two well-struck efforts from scrum half Conor Murray (19 and 33 minutes).
In between, full-back Deasy landed a 22nd minute penalty for the Leesiders and his second success, on the hour mark, proved to be the final score of a largely forgettable game.
