Body recovered from Grand Canal

The body of a man has been found in the Grand Canal in Dublin.

The body of a man has been found in the Grand Canal in Dublin.

The discovery was made at lunchtime near Baggot St bridge.

A search has been ongoing in the area in recent days for missing Cork man Damian O'Brien.

The 37-year-old from Clonakilty, an employee of Failte Ireland, went missing in the area on November 27.

He was last seenshortly after 11pm that evening at Percy Place, near Baggot Street bridge.

The following Tuesday, after failing to show up work and a flight to London, a missing persons investigation was launched.

Garda divers have for the past week been carrying out searches in the Grand Canal, which runs along part of Baggot Street.

Today's discovery was made a short distance from Mr O'Brien's place of work,
