A 23-year-old man was today charged with the attempted murder of a teenager in Co Down and the weekend.

The 18-year-old victim suffered serious – but not life-threatening – injuries when attacked at a house at Windmill Park in Ballynahinch in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Earlier three women were charged with withholding information about the stabbing.

Police said the trio, aged 35, 20 and 17, had been bailed to appear at Downpatrick Magistrates Court on February 9.

Detectives are trying to establish if the attack on the teenager was linked to a rampage through the area that night.

A group of young people, at least one armed with a baseball bat, smashed windows in three houses and numerous cars in Windmill Gardens and Windmill Park on Saturday night.
