Dáil hears gardaí are ‘failing to co-operate’ with GSOC probe into Clare Daly arrest
The Dáil has heard that Gardaí involved in the arrest of Clare Daly for alleged drink-driving are refusing to co-operate with the Garda Ombudsman.
TDs have heard that the GSOC inquiry into the affair has now been underway for over two years with no end in sight.
Deputy Daly has asked GSOC to investigate how details of her arrest in January 2013 were leaked to the media.
In the Dáil this evening, Independent TD Mick Wallace quoted from a GSOC letter outlining how Gardaí were refusing to co-operate.
“The gardaí who were directly involved in the arrest have declined to voluntarily provide accounts or to co-operate with the GSOC investigation,” read Deputy Wallace from the letter.
