Gardaí have launched an investigation following an attempted drive-by shooting in Drogheda this afternoon.

Gardaí have launched an investigation following an attempted drive-by shooting in Drogheda this afternoon.

A male driver in his twenties was injured when several shots were fired from inside a passing red Toyota.

The injured man managed to bring his car to a halt and was brought to Our Lady of Lourdes hospital where his injuries were described as "not life threatening".

Gardaí said they believed there were two or more men in the red car.
