Bentleys lead the way at Le Mans
Two Bentleys headed three Audis after the opening four-hour time trial at Le Mans today in preparation for this year’s 24 Hour race.
Denmark’s Tom Kristensen set a fastest time of three minutes 38.886 seconds around the eight-mile track with Johnny Herbert’s Bentley a mere 0.049secs slower.
Frank Biela was third fastest mid-way through the eight hour time trial in advance of this year’s race to be staged on 14-5 June.
Driving a British entered and prepared Audi, a car that has won the past three Le Mans races, the German was just 0.130secs behind Kristensen.
Emanuele Pirro and Jan Magnussen were fourth and fifth fastest respectively in their similar American and Japanese entered Audis, of the 56 cars taking part in the practice session.
