There has been further criticism of the Taoiseach's Cabinet reshuffle from the Fianna Fáil back benches.

Carlow Kilkenny Deputy MJ Nolan told his local radio station KCLR that Brian Cowen had been a "great disappointment" as leader of the party. His remarks have been echoed by Tipp South Deputy Mattie Mc Grath, a long-time critic of the Taoiseach's.

Their comments follow a call by former Minister John McGuinness on the Taoiseach to resign.

Waterford TD Brendan Kenneally told WLR FM: "I consider myself to be a good friend of his…and I hope he will heed this message…There are a lot of unhappy people there at present, there's no doubt about that."
