Walton wins Carne pro-am

Philip Walton fired a nine-birdie blitz at Carne today to win the Enterprise Energy pro-am tournament with an eight-under-par total of 136 for the 36 hole-event over the weekend.

Philip Walton fired a nine-birdie blitz at Carne today to win the Enterprise Energy pro-am tournament with an eight-under-par total of 136 for the 36 hole-event over the weekend.

Walton toured the Co Mayo course in 66 shots (six under) with three bogeys on his card.

Playing the back nine, first he turned in five-under-32 and came home in 34 (one-under) to finish

two shots clear of Stephen Hamill.

This is Walton's first win since the AIB Connemara pro-am last season.

He finished third in the recent Smurfit PGA Irish Region Championship at Westport.
