An elderly man has died in a road traffic accident while returning home after voting.

An elderly man has died in a road traffic accident while returning home after voting.

The incident happened at Bunlahy Cross in Co Longford at 11.15 this morning.

The driver in his eighties collided with a four-wheel drive jeep.

A passenger who was traveling with him is said to have escaped serious injury.

The elderly driver of the car was said to be driving home from Bunlahy National school after voting.
