Reading have completed the signing of 17-year-old Bulgarian striker Radoslav Vasilev from Slavia Sofia.
Vasilev, who played for the Reading reserves when he first linked up with the club in September, scored for the under-18s in their 5-0 win over Birmingham on Sunday.
The paperwork was completed at the end of last week, and Reading’s academy boss Eamonn Dolan is delighted to have signed his man.
He defended the decision to bring another overseas youngster into an academy that already features seven nationalities.
“Radoslav is a quality young footballer, and we are delighted,” Dolan told www.readingfc.com.
“We’ve worked very, very hard to bring him here – and it’s been a long battle to acquire him and fight off the competition.
“He’s another player for whom we have high hopes.
“You look at our youth set-up, and we have players from Australia, Iceland, Korea, Ghana, Bulgaria and Ireland. But that doesn’t mean we forget the lads from Wokingham.
“It’s an international game now, and it’s reflection of our club.”
