A man in his 30s remains in Garda custody this morning in connection with an armed robbery at a Dublin building society.

A lone gunman burst into the premises at Killiney Shopping Centre at around midday yesterday. He threatened staff and made off with some cash.

The man is being held for questioning by Dun Laoghaire Gardaí.

Meanwhile, Gardai are appealing for information after a mother and her eight-year-old son were tied up during an aggravated burglary at their home in Howth yesterday.

A gang of four men who made off with some cash in the family car that was parked outside.

Gardaí are also appealing for witnesses to a cash-in-transit robbery in Ratoath, Co. Meath.

At around 2pm yesterday afternoon, two men armed with an imitation firearm held up a security guard outside a service station on Fairyhouse Road.
